Hidden Waterfall!
We understand “your time is very valuable,” and you want to see and do as much as possible in your vacation. This is why we’ve created this tour that takes you directly to what you’ll enjoy in less time. Discover Puerto Rico by exploring these hidden, secret waterfalls tour outside of San Juan. These waterfalls are located in a different part of El Yunque in the countryside. (Note: this area is not covered under the federally-protected lands.)
We have no doubt that these waterfalls will become one of your favorite memories in Puerto Rico. We’ll also introduce you to a local family who built a secret gem house (private land) at the top of a majestic waterfall.
To give you easy access to these areas, we built a less-than-10-minute trail with stairs using ropes and recycled material. (We always need to respect nature!) To make the most of your time, you’ll go straight to see the waterfalls! For those more daring, we have places where you can cliff jump, and we’ll provide lifejackets.
Everyone will have the opportunity to swim and relax in the natural pools.
Note: We have the right to modify the tour for safety reasons in case of weather. As a local business, we always support other local businesses and hire local Puerto Rican tour guides.
The hiking trail is considered to be moderately difficult (Level 4 of 5). You’ll hike up 500 feet at a 40-degree incline. After the roughly 45-minute hiking exercise, you’ll reach the Mt. Britton observation tower. It’s elevated at 3,087 feet over the sea level. And you’ll be rewarded with an amazing, 360-degree view of the Atlantic Ocean, metropolitan area, and Caribbean Sea. If you’re lucky, you can even see Puerto Rico’s islands of Culebra and Vieques!
After soaking in the view, you’ll visit the well-known La Coca Falls. It stands at 85 feet (26 meters) tall on a huge rock formation – a perfect backdrop to capture your time at El Yunque.
Then, you’ll visit a local, family-owned restaurant offering an array of authentic Puerto Rican cuisine such as rice & beans, chicken pork chops, cold coconuts. Be sure to try their “empanadas” – a local-favorite. You can also order piña coladas – Puerto Rico’s national drink! You’ll also have the opportunity to buy souvenirs – a great way to support local businesses.
Once you rejuvenate, you’ll go to one more stop! You’ll have the chance to swim right into El Yunque’s river. Río Mameyes, or Mameyes River, is designated as a Wild and Scenic River. This means the river is protected from overuse, instream developments and other impacts that could impact its scenic and recreational value.
For you, that means you can immerse yourself in beautiful, clear, refreshing water. And then you can sunbathe and relax – the perfect end to an active trip in El Yunque.
